As part of the fifth grade curriculum this year we have started to participate in the great mail bag race. This interactive project encompasses English Language Arts, Geography, and Technology. The fifth graders have written friendly letters to schools in each of the fifty states. As a teacher I have written a letter to all classroom teachers encouraging their class’s participation. As part of the projects integration component I have created a wiki for class participation. The address for joining the wiki is http://greatmailbagrace.wikispaces.com/ each school will post to their states page to include information about their schools and important state facts including, state flower, tree, bird ETC. Teachers may include links to their emails or school web pages to encourage class collaboration through Skype, or video conference connections.
